The GA was run over a period of 45 days with a population size of 16,384 on the Monash PPME. The PPME consisted of the following processors at the time of running:

  • 22 x 330 MHz Pentium II processors
  • 32 x 350 MHz Pentium II processors
  • 8 x 500 MHz Pentium III processors

  • The population was split into 64 batches of 256 chromosomes each. 2,134 generations were evolved, which equates to 34,963,456 cost evaluations. The resulting cost was 652, which is 7 points better than the previous best of 659 that was achieved using a non-parallel GA. The GA was stopped due to low diversity in the population and time constraints. In the future we hope to run an experiment with a population size of 32,768 to further improve the result.
