How do you get the audience involved?

Using interaction - such as:

Asking questions of the audience

And waiting for the audience to reply

Asking the audience to consider a question

Get them mentally involved, but don't ask them to speak

Get the audience to participate in a demonstration

"that's one of us up there!"

Making it personal

Bringing the topic home to the audience - enlist their enthusiasm or self-interest
