The X-Cross Company has
been approached by a networking equipment reseller to replace all hubs in their
10BASET network with switches.
The company’s network consists of 100
workstations that all connect to a single server. Each existing hub has 8
ports.
A networking consultant has
suggested that the 10 Mbps symmetric switches being
offered are not suited to this networking
setup. You are required to write a
justification for the consultant – that is, you
are to explain why this is the case.

The Australian
Narcotics Bureau has released a tender for a network to link their portable
computing devices (PDAs, tablet PCs) into a network
for mobile deployment.
You are to write a proposal for the supply of
suitable networking technologies for this use. Choose appropriate technology
and describe how it could be used.
