Assessment


A mark of at least 50% is required for both the examination and the tutorials/assignments for a subject pass.

It is important that your solutions to the assignment/tutorial questions be your own work. Please refer to the Plagiarism page for more information.

 

Tutorials:

Attendance at these tutorials is not compulsory.

 

Assignments:

There are two assignments, each is worth 25%.

  • Assignment 1 (25%) - due 12.00 pm Thursday 13 April Week 7 - assignment box FIT Office Caulfield
     
  • Assignment 2  (25%) - due 12.00 pm Friday 26 May Week 12 - assignment box FIT Office Caulfield

To submit your assignment(s), please follow the procedures specified at http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/subjects/assign_submit.html.

 

Examination:

The final examination is worth 50%.

  • It is a closed-book examination.
  • The time allocated for this exam is two hours.
  • There are 6 essay type questions with sub-questions worth for a total of 120 marks. You should attempt to answer all questions.
  • The questions are from the tutorials/assignments, lecture slides and relevant chapters in the textbooks.
  • There are no more than 20% of calculation questions.
  • Calculators are permitted.
  • Given formulae.
  • Clearly number all answers and start each question on a new page.
  • Important: It is not necessary to provide long answers to any question. Your answers should be precise and concise.
