CSE4002 Software Engineering Studio Project

A 'NOTICES' parameter is required and the notice directory /u/courseware/NOTICES must exist.

USAGE: datedNotices.cgi?notices=NOTICES

Generates html notices page from the /u/courseware/NOTICES subdirectory.

Notices file names in that directory follow the format MM-DD-NNNN.html, where

Notices past the expiry date MM-DD are ignored. Notices are sorted by file modification date and this date is output.

Configuration: Optionally the bullet point image to be displayed can be configured by creating a file /u/courseware/NOTICE/images/notice.gif.

Summary

Students will undertake a large project and work in groups on a software project for a client. The client may be internal to Monash or from the industry or research organisation. In general, projects involve all aspects of the system development lifecycle. Groups are responsible for their own project management, with guidance from a supervisor. Some projects will warrant students working in pairs or individually.

Mandatory attendance and satisfactory completion of all the requirements: presentations, walk throughs, interviews and a final report.

Portal

The Monash portal has a brief unit page with the standard entries at my.monash.edu.au/units/CSE4002.

News Forum

The Monash portal entry allows you to read and post to the unit discussion forum with a simple interface. If you are used to more advanced news reader functions please direct your browser or news reader to news://collabra1.monash.edu.au/classes.it.csit.01-06.disc. For example set the news server to collabra1.monash.edu.au and subscribe to the news group classes.it.csit.01-06.disc. Coming from an ISP this requires Monash proxy settings and authcate login. For instance, in Netscape under Edit.Preferences.Advanced.Proxies enable Automatic proxy configuration with the URL http://www.monash.edu.au/proxy.pac and click "reload" BEFORE you go to the subject pages.
