Data Mining

The assessment for this subject will consist of:

Literature Survey (5%)

The literature survey is due in week 7 and should consist of a summary of the papers read. (at most 100 words per paper). Students will be required to summarize at least 5 and preferably more papers covering the topic of their paper. Topics for each paper should be decided by week 4.

Seminar Presentation (20%)

The presentation will last 20 minutes with 5 minutes for questions. Students should provide copies of their overheads for the lecturer. Click here to see the order in which students will present.

Paper on the above topic (75%)

Papers are due in week 12. It is expected that papers should be of a quality suitable for publication, and students should consult the Faculty publication Guidelines for the Presentation of Written Assignments (PostGraduate Edition) where necessary.

Papers are to be approximately 3,500 words and should provide an overview of the topic and a summary of the research carried out to date in the surveyed papers.

Students are strongly encouraged to choose their own topic, based on their interests and background. A list of some possible topics is available.
