It is imperative that overseas visitors have health insurance. They are required to pay for any health services they receive in Australia, unless there exists a health care agreement (Reciprocal Health Care Agreement) between Australia and their home country (such as New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Finland, Malta and Italy.).
Monash University recommends IMAN health insurance.
Private health insurance is at the visitor's own cost and it must be arranged before visitor departs for Australia. On arrival at Monash University, we would be required to provide proof to HR that your visitor has health insurance to cover the duration of his visit.
