Appointment Procedures

 

Employing Contract Staff - full-time (local/overseas staff), part-time and fixed term contracts

Steps to be taken:

  1. The staff member (the offeror) advised the HOS or AHOS of his intentions.
  2. The offeror contacts the admin unit to process the paperwork.
  3. Once the paperwork is approved and signed by HOS or AHOS, the admin staff will input information onto edphone (via the web) and, email ALL support units. 
  4. The offeror contacts the finance unit and tech unit for resources. *

Employing Casual General Staff - employment less than 3 months, Casual Research Staff/Sessional Lecturing - employment up to 12 months maximum

Steps to be taken:

1.       The staff member (the offeror) advised the HOS or AHOS of his intentions.

2.       The offeror contacts the finance team to process the paperwork.

3.       Once the paperwork is approved and signed, the finance staff will advise admin staff.

4.       Admin staff will input information onto edphone (via the web) and, email ALL support units.

5.       The offeror contacts the finance unit and tech unit for resources if needed. *

 

Inviting "local" seminar/conference speaker - where reimbursement of expenses are required.  Must be arranged at least 6 weeks before visit.

Steps to be taken:

  1. The staff member (the host) advised the HOS or AHOS and the seminar coordinator of his intentions.
  2. The host contacts the admin unit to process the paperwork.
  3. Once the paperwork is approved and signed, the admin staff will input information onto edphone (via the web) and, email ALL support units.   
  4. The host will contact the finance unit and tech unit for resources if needed. *

Inviting "overseas" seminar/conference speaker - under subclass visa 456 Short Stay Business (apply in person) or

if applying online via ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) - Business Entrant - Short Validity Subclass 977 visa.  Must be arranged at least 6 weeks before visit.

Note:  If you intend to pay your speaker a fee-for-service, please use this visa type.  Visitor's stay must be less than 1 month.

  1. The staff member (the host) advised the HOS or AHOS and the seminar coordinator of his intentions.
  2. The host contacts the admin unit to process the paperwork.
  3. Once the paperwork is approved and signed, the admin staff will input information onto edphone (via the web) and, email ALL support units.  . 
  4. The host will contact the finance unit and tech unit for resources if needed. *

Inviting Academic Visitors - under subclass visa 419, Educational visa.    

Must be arranged at least 6 weeks before visit.

Steps to be taken:

  1. The staff member (the host) advised the HOS or AHOS of his intentions.
  2. The host contacts the admin staff to process the paperwork.
  3. Once the paperwork is approved and signed, the admin staff will input information into edphone (via the web) and, email ALL support units.   
  4. The host will contact the finance unit and tech unit for resources. *

Inviting Student Visitors - under subclass visa 442, Occupational Trainee visa. 

Must be arranged at least 8 weeks before visit.

Steps to be taken:

  1. The staff member (the host), advised the HOS or AHOS of his intentions.
  2. The host contacts the admin unit to process the paperwork.
  3. Once the paperwork is approved and signed, the admin staff will input information onto edphone (via the web) and, email ALL support units and the Faculty Research Office. 
  4. The host will contact the finance unit and tech unit for resources. *
