CSE417 is a full-year subject in both Semester 1 and Semester 2. This unit is compulsory.

Course outline:
This unit covers three main areas: research skills; technical writing; and technical presentations. You will learn to: research, deliver and evaluate professional technical presentations; write a literature review; structure and write a thesis. This unit is compulsory.

Interim presentation (hurdle) - Thursday 1 June (week 13 S1)
Research log book (hurdle) - 12 noon Tuesday 7 November
Research proposal (10%) - 12 noon Friday 14 April (week 7 S1) - assessed by supervisor/second examiner
Research skills (30%) - 12 noon Friday 26 May (week 12 S1) - assessed by lecturer
Literature review (20%) - 12 noon Friday 21 July (week 1 S2) - assessed by supervisor/second examiner
Final presentation (20%) - week of 23-27 October TBA (assessed by CSSE academic staff)
Poster presentation (10%) - TBA (assessed by CSSE academic staff)
Seminar attendance (10%) - throughout year (assessed by Honours co-ordinator)
