Later, a program was created which allowed facial expressions to be evolved
using genetic algorithms. This program ran as a CGI binary and was accessed
using World Wide Web browsers.
[10]
This used the standard genetic algorithm technique for evolving facial
expressions; the user was presented with six ``cartoon'' faces,
and was asked
to give each a rank between 1 and 6 (1 being the most favoured, and 6 the
least). The program would then eliminate the least-favoured face, breed the
most-favoured face with another and occasionally mutate one of the faces.

This program was trialled on Open Day, as an exhibit, as well as being experimented with beforehand. From this it was deduced that this method of evolving facial expressions was too slow and tedious, not providing the user with enough control over the process.
