Implementation Description

The Implementation of Rumour was divided into three parts, and each part was completed before the next part was begun:

• Creating Jack and the format of Lindex and Cindex.
• Creating Collector, determining the format of ReferList and determining a way to invoke Collector.
• Creating the Search Program and the Search Page to invoke the Program.

Most of the executable programs are written in a scripting language called PERL. Perl is reasonably portable, with source codes for all UNIX systems, Windows NT, and Macintosh systems. It can parse a document easily and extract out the necessary information, and it can produce the result in a required format.
