Rumour is at its final phase of completion, with all the major components of Rumour tested and running on some
Monash University Web servers. The next step for Rumour is to make it ready to be distributed to
the public, and to expand on what has been done.
Rumour can automatically update indexes easily, without wasting Internet resources, and requires minimum
maintenance. The effectiveness of Rumour cannot be assessed accurately until more Web servers are
using the Rumour. However, Rumour has the potential to be required software on the Web.
As the Web grows larger, the access and updating problems of the current database
services will worsen, but systems like Rumour will be the solution.
