Overview

Three genetic operators are used to generate the offspring: crossover, mutation and repair. Crossover of two agents' bodies can be described as creating an offspring by taking a number of states out of one body and replacing them with a number of states taken from the other, and attempting to reconnect disconnected arcs in topologically similar places. Mutation randomly perturbs and adds to the genetic structure, and the repair step ensures the validity of the resultant chromosome.

The above steps will be dealt with in further detail in the following sections.
