Running the Simulator => Getting Started

Getting Started

To begin, unzip all the TCP simulator files downloaded here into a directory of your choosing. Once that is done, make sure that a Java Virtual Machine of version 1.4.0+ (downloaded here) is installed and its directory is in the search path. The TCP simulator can then be run by entering the graphical environment for your OS (x-windows for unix, windows etc) with a minimum screen resolution of 1024x768 and typing
java Window_SimGUI
in the directory where the TCP simulator files have being unzipped.

The simulator Graphical User Interface (or GUI, see below) should then appear.

Note that most of the controls in the GUI have being disabled (blanked out). The simulator can only be started after it is fully configured by first configuring its TCP settings and then configuring its traffic generators.
