Welcome to my Honours website! I'm Amanda Crawford and am in my 4th (Honours) year of a Bachelor of Computer Science degree at Monash University, Australia. This website is based on my Honours project this year, and I hope that you enjoy what I've got to tell you. I've been interested in music for a long time now, and was lucky enough to be able to complete a project related to music. My supervisors were Lloyd Allison and Jon McCormack. The idea of the project was to take a genre of music and analyse it for interesting properties, as well as being able to generate new music based on guitar chords. The introduction gives a basic idea of music and how it relates to what I'm doing, the background section gives information about previous research that has been conducted, while the methods section gives information relating to the methods that I've used in this project to analyse music as well as generating some original compositions. The results that I obtained are listed in the results section, along with a brief discussion of those results. Ideas for future work are presented in the conclusions section, while text and online references are listed in the references section. The logbook that I created to record my progress is also available online. |
