This site provides a brief overview of Computer Understanding of SVG Diagrams, a computer science honours thesis by Vivek Ramakrishna and supervised by Prof. Kim Marriott. Work was completed at the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Monash University (Melbourne, Australia) in 2004.
Site Contents
The Motivation section describes what diagram understanding entails and the problems computer understanding systems face. It also provides a depiction of the diagram understanding process.
The Methods section describes the developed system, as well as an introduction to the technologies used, including SVG, CIDER, Constraint Multiset Grammars and RDF.
The Results section gives examples of diagrams that the developed system is able to understand as well as some limitations.
The Downloads section provides the final submitted thesis, source code of the developed system and other work completed during the year. It is intended for those who, after viewing this site, wish to study the work in greater detail.
This site was completed to fulfill the requirements of CSE417 Communication and
Research Skills.
