| Information on the Bibliography |
The journal was originally published and/or edited at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, IN 47803, USA, and then moved in July 1995 to the Department of Mathematical Sciences, United States Military Academy, West Point NY 10996-9902, USA.
This journal is unusual in that volumes are numbered with roman, rather than arabic, numbers. For convenience of bibliography tools like bibsort, this bibliography uses the equivalent arabic form.
The journal has a World-Wide Web site at
http://www.dean.usma.edu/math/resource/pubs/cryptolo/index.htm From the Web page:
``The journal is NOT a publication of the United States Government but rather is managed and published at the United States Military Academy by Professor Brian J. Winkel, Department of Mathematical Sciences.''
The Web page has article titles for all issues, but not author or page number information. Consequently, most of the pre-1990 entries below, which were not available from databases to which I have access, lack this important data. They have therefore been assigned author values of `Unknown', and pages values of `??--??'.
These deficiencies will be remedied if, and when, I can find alternate sources of the bibliographic data. The University of Utah Marriott Library does not subscribe to this journal, so I'm unable to verify any of the questionable entries against original journal issues.
In the meantime, a number of these entries have been updated from data found in about 200 Web pages which were located by a Web search for the string `Cryptologia' at http://altavista.digital.com/. In most cases, only one or two references to the journal were found, but one large bibliography, BIBALL.HTM, turned up, and has been referenced in the bibsource key values of about 100 entries. In addition, when references to Web-accessible full text version of the articles could be found, URLs have been added to the bibliography entries below.
There is an interesting Web site about the Enigma machine, with a large color picture, at
http://www.enigma-co.com/history.html Three volumes of selected reprints from the journal have been published; bibliography entries for them appear at the end of this file, and where possible, cross references have been provided from the original articles to these reprint volumes.
Data for the bibliography has been collected from the bibliographies in the TeX User Group collection, from bibliographies in the author's personal files, from the OCLC Contents1st database, from the Compendex database, and from the MathSciNet database. A small number of missing initial page numbers were obtained from the Uncover database.
