Expertise and research interests

Dr Tellambura's research interests are in physical layer communication theory and include fading channel communications, modulation/demodulation and equalisation. He has researched forward error correction codes, trellis-coded modulation and automatic repeat request codes in digital mobile radio channel. His research also includes the physical layer issues for HIPERLAN, an emerging standard for wireless LANs. He has had three years of postdoctoral research experience. Several of his postgraduate students are working on OFDM research projects.

Background

C Tellambura received his BSc degree with first class honours from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 1986, MSc in electronics from the University of London in 1988, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Victoria, Canada, in 1993. He was a postdoctoral research fellow with the University of Victoria (1993-94) and the University of Bradford 11995-961. Since 1997, he has been with the Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University where he is currently a senior lecturer. Dr Tellambura is editor for Wireless Communications, IEEE Journal of Selected Areas in Communications. He is also editor for Multicarrier Systems in the area of modulation and signal design, IEEE Transactions on Communications.
