Background
Dr. Squire completed his
undergraduate studies at the University of Melbourne in Australia, receiving
his Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree in 1990,
and his Bachelor of Science, majoring in physics, in 1991. His doctoral
degree is from the Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Australia,
where he worked on model-based neural networks for invariant pattern
recognition until 1995. In 1996 he joined the Vision Group in the Computing
Science Centre, University of Geneva, Switzerland, where he worked on
content-based image retrieval, in charge of the Viper research group.
In 2000 he returned to Australia, joining Monash University. He retains
interests in invariant pattern recognition and machine learning, and
is continuing research on multimedia retrieval. He is the author of
more than 20 published papers in these fields.
Dr. Squire has lectured subjects
such as Neural Networks, Software Engineering and Data Mining at both
graduate and undergraduate level. He has tutored in physics, mathematics,
and computer science departments.
