Research Strengths - RUUG
The Reasoning Under Uncertainty Group (RUUG) applies Artificial
Intelligence to situations in which uncertainty is a significant factor.
RUUG aims to:
- undertake fundamental research in the relevant technologies
- develop tools
- apply the technology and the tools to a wide range of real-world applications
Uncertainty arises in any domain with noisy data, as a result
of measurement error, data loss, variation in the population, or imprecise
or vague specifications. Our methods involve data mining large,
complex databases to build effective domain models that can then
be used for reasoning under uncertainty - including diagnosis, prediction,
planning and scheduling.
RUUG is committed to disseminating its world-class research and
advanced techniques into industry and to helping bring IT practitioners to
the leading edge through short courses and industry collaboration.
