New Fax Machine Arrangements

Dear Colleagues,

The Clayton School of Information Technology is converting to the newMonash Fax Service on 6th July 2009. This is a service that allows theuse of email for sending and receiving faxes.

What is Monash Fax?

Monash Fax provides the user with the ability to send and receive faxesfrom their PC via their existing email client (Mozilla Thunderbirdetc).

Emails and their attached documents can be sent to a fax machine fordelivery. Incoming faxes are also delivered to an email account.

To prepare yourself for the conversion, please set aside some time toreview the learning material available at the Monash Fax website at:

http://its.monash.edu.au/staff/faxing/

Changes to Service

We will be replacing all existing general access fax lines with asingle fax number (x55159). Any faxes received on this number will beemailed to admin staff who will forward them on to the recipient. Allexisting fax machines will be withdrawn from service.

The Head of School fax number (x58731) will continue to be monitored byKerry McManus and will serve as the confidential fax line. She willforward on any faxes as required.

Other fax numbers (x58687, x59422, x55146) will be redirected to x55159for a period of 12 months to allow opportunity to update business cardsand contacts.

While many documents can be faxed directly from your PC, the networkedphotocopiers in building 63 can be used to scan and fax any hardcopydocuments you may have. These photocopiers are located in rooms G21,G51 and 127. Instructions will be provided next to these photocopierscloser to the change-over date. Details about this conversion areavailable at the following website:
