Purpose and Function To provide a co-ordinating point for all matters relating to academic boards and senates in Australia
Terms of Reference Promote the role of academic values and processes within the governance procedures and protocols of Australian universities;
Share information and coordinate advice on academic matters of interest to Universities in Australia;
Make recommendations to external bodies on the appropriate procedures for the determination of academic policy;
Investigate references from formal state-based, national and international external bodies;
Investigate references from Academic Boards/Senates of Universities in Australia;
Provide an annual forum for Chairs of Academic Boards/Senates of Universities in Australia to share best practice and discuss matters of common interest;
Membership All Chairs of Academic Boards/Senates of Universities in Australia
Chair Elect a Chair from its members by its members with the Chair's term of office being two years, as long as he/she remains a member of the Committee.
Method of Appointment All positions are ex-officio.
Period of Office Not applicable. All positions are ex-officio.

Quorum A quorum is the majority of members.
