Assessment

The basic components of assessment are:

Marks will be accumulated in Moodle, so that students can track their progress through the semester.

Assignment Extensions

Want an extension of time to complete an assignment? Just use the Application For Extension Of Time For Submission Of An Assessment Task available on the faculty web site.

Wiki and Discussion Contributions

From the Unit Guide:

Title:
Discussion/Wiki contributions
Description:
A range of discussion topics will be posted, and students will be expected to respond to these. Marks will be awarded on the basis of relevance of the posting ("weight"), and the arguments advanced ("value"). In addition, a wiki will be available, to which students are invited to contribute learning materials. Marks will be awarded on a similar basis to the discussion topics. Those postings receiving good marks will be made available to future students in the unit.
Weighting:
10%
Criteria for assessment:
Each posting will receive a mark from 0 to 5 for both "weight" and "value". The posting's mark will be the geometric mean of these two marks. Arbitrarily many postings may be made, but the total score (sum of each posting mark) will be capped at 10%
Due date:
15 Oct 2010

Unfortunately, the Moodle Grade Book is not set up to do this, so marks will be maintained separately, and updated in Moodle from time to time.

Examinations

The exam in this unit is a 3 hour written paper, weighted at 60% of the final assessment grade, with an exam hurdle of 40% (must get at least 40% in exam to pass unit overall).

Past Examinations

This is the fourth year of teaching for the unit FIT2022, and the third year in which I (ajh) have been the chief examiner and Clayton lecturer. However, the material covered is drawn from previous units, and some sample examinations using material from those units are available here to give students some idea of what might be expected. I (ajh) taught the equivalent unit in 1999/2001, so those papers are consistent with this and last year's style. From 2002 to 2006, and in 2009, other staff taught the unit, and I have access to only the 2005 paper.

It is suggested that you attempt the paper itself first, then review the solutions once you have attempted an answer. This will reinforce your learning and understanding.

Identification Paper Solutions

2001 (not available) paper and solutions
2005 paper solutions
