The learning experiments announced previously will be held in the third lecture of week 13 (the last lecture). The plan for week 13 (in which no new material is taught) is that the Monday lecture will be used for revision, and the first lecture on Thursday will be an analysis of the questions in the 2008 exam paper (upon which the 2010 exam paper is based). Then those students who have completed the consent forms will be invited to stay on for the learning experiment, and other students will be permitted to leave.
Note that any student who has not completed the consent who wants to participate in the experiments (for which an honorarium is offered), they can do so, provided they sign the consent form on the day.
The nature of the experiment is that you will be asked to listen to a short lecture, during which you will use the iCALT tool (previously used in this unit) to make notes. At the conclusion of the lecture, you will be asked to complete a short questionaire about the lecture.
Students are asked to bring a laptop with them in order to participate in this experiment. If you don't have a laptop and wish to participate, please let John Hurst know ASAP.
