The Z12 Class of NSW Railways
Built by Beyer Peacock, Manchester, and closely related to the Z13 class.
I remember Peter Reynell in the mid 70s looking wistfully at 1210 on her plinth outside Canberra Railway Station and saying that it would be nice if we could restore her for her centenary (1978). That was not to be, but in 1984 the ARHS ACT Divn did finally secure permission to restore 1201, and this sequence of photos documents the removal process. As the previous image shows, 1210 was in steam in time for Australia's bicentenary.
