Just a few M/MA class, and one or two Abt, in this group. Inever really got to see any Tasmanian steam, at least tophotograph. One of my earliest memories, however, was of a visit tothe Apple Isle during the early 50s. I was perhaps 5 years old at thetime. I vividly remember seeing a Tasmanian steam loco on theseincredibly narrow tracks (I was brought up in Victoria and its5'3" gauge, don't forget), running light engine, tenderfirst. It was perhaps an M class, although it was quite dirty and notat all like the following photographs. It is reported that I exclaimedexcitedly "train going backsa"!
See Stuart Dix's RailTas page on the M/MA Class for more information.
