This thesis extends the previous work on Wang Tiles and presents a new solution to construct scenes with multi-motif (for example, a scene consists of sunflowers and daisies) instead of mono-motif. This solution includes a border tile set, a filling tile set and area boundary construction algorithms. The border tile set contains tiles for generating boundaries between areas, and the filling tile set contains tiles for filling the closed areas within boundaries. In practise, this solution may apply to both random scene construction (such as random maps in games, continual non-repeated virtual scene) and terrain reconstruction (for example, the reconstruction of terrain information from satellites). This thesis also provides two practical examples for synthetic landscape terrain generation, which integrate both automatic terrain construction and its corresponding texture synthesis algorithms.
