Australian Nimrod Testbed

In Australia, a Computational Grid called GrangeNet is being established. GrangeNet will install, operate and develop a high speed optical network. The backbone will connect the AARNet Points-of-Presence and the high-performance computing systems at APAC partner sites in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane. GrangeNet effectively provides the core infrastructure to build an Australian Grid, and will allow it to collaborate with other Grid systems developed internationally.

Because GrangeNet will link both high-end computational resources and more significant clusters in Australia, it provides an ideal platform for a much more aggressive role out of the Nimrod technology than has been possible to date. In combination, GrangeNet and Nimrod/G will provide the infrastructure required to perform routine parametric computational experiments of the type discussed above. The service will be known as “The Australian Nimrod Testbed”, ANT for short.

The Nimrod testbed will be based on Nimrod/G and the Nimrod Portal. If you are interested in using ANT please contact us.
