Welcome to the home page for WIC7.

The seventh Australasian Women in Computing workshop (WIC7) will take place on Sunday 3 December, 2000 at Mannix College, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.  WIC7 will precede the fourth Australasian Computing Education conference (ACE2000) which will be held from 4-6 December at the same venue.

The theme of WIC7 will be "Career planning and management for women in academic computing".   The programme will include a keynote address by Nell Dale, Senior lecturer in Computer Science, University of Texas at Austin,  on reasons why women are disproportionately over-represented at junior levels and under-represented at senior levels in university and TAFE, presentations by a panel of invited speakers on issues aimed at encouraging women to proactively manage their careers, discussion sessions and a feedback session.

WIC7 will provide a valuable forum for discussion as well as networking opportunities for those who have an interest in issues related to the career advancement of women in academic computing.   We will welcome attendees (both male and female) from academia (university and TAFE), teaching, industry and media and anyone else with an interest in this area.
