Comment | Hi Jim, no amendment to the substance, but a request to amend the ranking
within your database sections: it would be much better if this 生息(せいそ く)came up when posting a text into "Translate Words" and not the 生息 (しょうそく)from the Buddhist dictionary. ;-) Try the last sentence from this sample text: イギリス、フランス、イタリア北部の辺りから、東ヨーロッパ、ロシア、スカンジナ ビア半島、中央アジア、モンゴルを経て、東はサハリン、北朝鮮、中国北部にまで達 する。本種は最も北に生息するクサリヘビで、スカンジナビア半島では、北緯60度 の北極圏付近にも見られる。なお日本には生息しない。 |

Hmmm. EDICT entries should get priority. When I tried "なお日本には生息しない"
I got:
日本 【にほん】 (n) Japan; (P); EP 生息 【せいそく】 (n,vs) inhabiting; living; (P); EP Wonder why you didn't. You were using the default "glossdic"? That has the ranking metrics. If you use "the_lot" in the "Translate Words" function, all bets are off. |

Comment | Pardon me, i mixed up the dictionaries - the ranking change i am looking for in
this case is to put 生息 【せいそく】 before 生息地 【せいそくち】when using "Translate Words" |

Editorial Comment | In this case I don't know what you mean. Can you give an example where 生息地 gets chosen instead of 生息? |

Comment | If this entry is at all necessary, it could be promoted from, or amended in LW2,
(maybe a promotion into EDICT may not be necessary since (生息 vs) should do the trick)... |

Comment | I don't think so! :-) And the same goes for his/her 大台場... ;-)
In the hope that S. McIntire Allen and others interested in name kanji chokuyaku read the comments on the submissions page, here is the explanation they may be interested in: by selecting an entry from the dictionary and clicking the "Examine" button one gains access to a slew of information about each individual kanji in the entry (including the relevant data from the Unihan database). In general, those "translations" are to the most part useless to the average user of a dictionary... :-) |

Comment | current translation given as application (of ointment, etc.) Word is used in semiconductor industry, e.g. for photoresist coating (フォトレジスト塗布), so recommend adding 'coating' to the translation. [BTW, my browser is acting up, so hopefully everything is where it needs to be in the form...] |
