Headword 1 |
Reading 1 |
Part-of-speech | p |
English 1 | Shimodamachi, Izunokuni (p) |
English 2 | NA |
Reference | See below. |
Comment | This place name is submitted because Roy Miller makes the comment [38(3)] that the "の" is pronounced even though it is not written in between "国" and "伊豆"; i.e, the Land of Izu. His comments are supported elsewhere, e.g., Wikipedia.
In searching in order to discover if your site agreed, I could not find a good match for either "伊豆国" or "下田町" or the combination. However, I did find the following:- 伊豆の国農協 【いずのくにのうきょう】 (?) ???; RH Whilst "伊豆国際ゴルフ場" may be distinguished if it actually means "International Golf Course (which is located in) Izu", the others are at odds with each other, both as to the "の" in one case being included in the headword and in the others by not being included in the reading. Also they are at odds with regard to the use of "くに" and "こく". However, because there may be a good reason for the variations, I confined my submission to the missing place name [I hope!] and the comment about that by Roy Miller. |

Editorial Comment | Happy to add: "伊豆国 [いずのくに] /(p) Izunokuni/". 伊豆国下田町 gets TWO Google hits. Also, I don't usually have name hierarchies like that. it's a bit like having "Camden Town, London" as a name entry. 下田町 is already included in all its variants. Re the 国 = こく, all the ones there are 伊豆 + 国際/国分/国民/国立/etc. |
Headword 1 |
Reading 1 |
Part-of-speech | adj-i |
English 1 | affected (appearance, attitude) |
Reference | See below. |
Comment | Searching your site for confirmation, I found the above entry. There are over 10k Google hits and, in context it seems to be correct. There is abundant support for this entry which is provided for by the basic "気障な."
I also found an RH entry as follow:- 気障っぽい 【きざっぽい】 (?) ???; RH. The text which I was originally looking at read as follows:- "ちょっときざっぽすぎるほどのモダンボーイである。" Which text I am taking as "(he) is a modern boy with a little to much of an affected attitude." Whether or not you decide to promote the "WI1", the "RH" entry could be deleted. |

Comment | My Japanese professor said that this word was rarely used in conversation and more often in narrative/prose or academic writing (such as, "you are invited to the joyous occasion of the wedding of" etc.) If this is true, maybe there is a way to note that? |

Editorial Comment | I think the original entry is wrong, and probably came from someone assuming that since 最左翼 meant extreme left then 最右翼 meant the opposite. |

Editorial Comment | GG5 has "〔かかとを上げた立ち方〕 standing on 「the balls of one's feet [tiptoe]; 〔その歩き方〕 an 「unsteady [unstable] stance; an unsteady step." I'll work that in and build a second sense from your material. |
