Part-of-speechn,vs
English 1understanding

English 3grasp
English 4perception
English 5appreciation
English 6mastery (of an art or skill)
CommentDaijirin defines this as 物事をよく理解・習得して自分のものにすること, and it seems to me that the current EDICT definition is weighted to the 理解 and a bit short on 習得 ('grasp' is heading there but a bit cryptic as a single word). GG5 has 'master' and 'catch [the idea of]' for 会得する, and プログレッシブ和英中辞典 has "get the hang/knack of" for こつを会得する, but I'm not sure how to fit that into the EDICT format here. I have added "mastery (of an art or skill)" as my attempt which I'm sure can be improved upon...

English 1Griffiths' pygmy-goby (Trimma griffithsi, found in the Indo-West Pacific)
English 2princess pygmy goby (Trimma marinae, found in Japan, New Guinea and Palau)
CommentA Japanese sources claims griffithsi is old, and marinae new, but fishbase shows them as two distinct species with regional differences - the two do not look that much alike in my opinion. I think the Japanese got confused. Google turns up pages with both species being assigned the same Japanese name.
