Current Entry悪平等 [あくびょうどう] /(adj-na,n) leaning over backwards to be impartial/ (1152470)
Headword 1悪平等
Reading 1あくびょうどう
Part-of-speechadj-na,n
English 1perverted equality
ReferenceSee below.
Comment研究社 gives the translation shown above. This balances with the concept of "equality" which is mixed with the concept of "bad," i.e., the equality does not really exist so, therefore, it is perverted.

The notion of someone "leaning over backwards to be impartial," would, it seems to me, need to be represented by characters which were implying something other than "bad, evil, wickedness."

For example, someone leaning over backwards to be impartial is more like, "in spite of one's own feelings on a matter, one goes even beyond being impartial in order to demonstrate that one is not being partial."

Editorial Comment Which 研究社? GG5 has "misguided [misconceived] equality" and 中辞典 has "misapplied equality". "perverted" can easily send the wrong message.

CommentHere is an unrelated question - but since i have no other place to put it i'm tagging it along to this submission.
The hiragana gloss dictionary "KD" contains the following entry:
のがある (exp) worthy of (attention, admiration, concern, etc.); ; KD
Is there a way to indicate that that particular gloss applies in rare cases to the otherwise common nominalizing expression 〜のがある? For example, by adding a note to the effect that the phrase in question is normally used as a nominalizing expression? (In fact, i've come across similar items at other times, so i have the feeling there are several such expressions in KD where the gloss that is offered may in _some_ cases apply but _usually_ doesn't. Is there a way we could have a look at the whole KD collection to pick out the obvious items to which my comment applies?
