Abstract
========

In completely deterministic worlds it is possible for a planner simply
to generate a sequence of actions, knowing that if they are exected in
the proper order, the goal will necessarily result. In
nondeterministic worlds, planners must address the question of what to
do when things do not go as expected. I will begin this talk by
reviewing how classical AI planners, which assume the world is
deterministic for the purposes of planning, address this problem. I
will then look at some more recent work where the non-determinism is
taken into consideration during the planning phase.
