Rover company history (1884-).
S1:- series one (1948-1958).
S2:- series two (1958-1961).
S2A: series two A (1961-1971).
S3:- series three (1971-1983?).
Stage-1: (1979-1985) leaf-sprung LWB (109"), V8, full-time 4WD; also an Australian 3.9D version.
110: (1983-) coil sprung, LWB (110").
90:- (1984-) coil sprung, SWB (actually 92.9"). Not officially imported into Australia (yet).
Defender: (1990-), 90, 110, 130, ... (new marketing name and gradual improvements).
1988: British Aerospace take over Rover Group.
1994: Rover Group sold to BMW!

Principal Variants.

SWB: short-wheel-base (80", 86", 88" or 92").
LWB: long-wheel-base (107", 109" or 110") (*).
HT:- hard-top.
ST:- soft-top (*).
SW:- station-wagon (SWB and LWB).
FC:- forward-control, S2A (1962-1965), S2B! (1965-1972).

Prototypes and might have beens.
Military Land Rovers.
Perentie (1983-) Australian Army, 110 derivative 4WD (1 tonne, 3.9D) and also 6WD (2 tonne, 3.9TD). Follow-on project called Bushranger (1994-).
Fire engines.
