Objects can be removed from an image by selecting them and then using Resynthesizer with these settings.

If the background behind the object to be removed isn't homogeneous, you may need to provide a map of features in the image to Resynthesizer.
In the example below, the tufts of grass are smaller as one looks higher up the image. One can provide Resynthesizer with a map such that areas with similar texture in the image have similar color in the map. The settings to remove an object from a non-homogeneous image are shown here.
