A weighted point-based average of credit grade for level 1, 2 and 3 core subjects is the minimum requirements for entry to the BSE Honours program.
- Level 1 has a weight of 1/6; level 2 has weight 2/6; and level 3 has weight 3/6.
- In any year, a quota may be applied. The weighted average is the selection criteria.
- There are separate quotas for Honours program in BSE and BCompSci.
- BSE students have to undertake fourth year of study to complete their BSE course requirements.

The BSE Honours program only affects to what subject choices they can make in that year.
Honours Grade
The formula for deciding honours grades within the Bachelor of Software Engineering is a weighted average of the core units CSE3305,
CSE3308, CSE3322, CSE3323, CSE4002, CSE4402, CSE4213 and CSE4333, plus 12 points of approved level 3/4 CSE electives, with
CSE4402 carrying double weight.
Information re: Hons. Scholarships and List of Projects
A selected group of BSE Students completing their third year of study
will be invited to apply for BSE Hons. towards the end of November.
This is to ensure that the second semester results are included in the
calculation for entry into the Hons. program. However, students can
base their eligibility to a certain degree based on their current performance.

For the Hons. scholarship
application, write a proposal based around one of the areas listed if you are
genuinely interested in what they are doing to increase your chances.
We are also currently exploring possibilities
for joint Hons. projects with CSIRO and us.
We will also be providing a list of research topics available for Hons. at
Clayton shortly.
