Frequently Asked Questions about Transfers into BSE

  • Question : I am a first year student currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Engineering at Monash and I would like to know more information about making an internal transfer into Software Engineering. I'd like to know what grades are required and what I need to do in order to make this internal transfer application successful.

The faculty has a very clear policy on transfers.

     1. The application must be lodged by 30th November each year.
     2. Applications are considered at this time only for Semester 1 start
(no mid-year intake for local HECS students. Talk to A.Prof.Trevor Dix
re: special conditions that may apply for local HECS students for entry
into the mid-year stream, or to the course leader, Ms Sita Ramakrishnan.
There may be mid-year intakes for international students).
     3. The applicant must not have any failed subjects in the year of study
     in which they are studying
     4. Preference will be given to students that have done particularly well
and there are no guarantees for selection. It will depend on the quality
of all applicants and the number of positions available for transfering
     students.
     5. At least a credit average in their results overall, or for Science
and Eng students at least credits in Maths, Science, Computer Science
     and Eng subjects.
     6. We also consider the VTAC results so these need to be submitted also.
