Fractal Compression with Application to Video Coding

My PhD was in the field of fractal compression

Some links on the web related to this topic are as follows:

Fractal Image Compression
This page is run by Yuval Fisher, editor of the book "Fractal Image Compression: Theory and Application". The site contains links to a variety of information and resources on fractal image coding and related topics covering bibliographies, books (his), conferences, internet resources, papers, and software. This page is the most up-to-date of all fractal image compression pages.

Video Coding Group, Bath, UK.
Papers and a software demonstration of the bath fractal video codec. This makes use of the BFT or Bath Fractal Transform to achieve real time software video playback of QCIF sequences at 25 fps down to 64 Kbps on a 468 33MHz PC.

Groupe Fractales - INRIA
The INRIA Groupe Fractals page contains papers and software on fractals in general with some information on fractal image compression.

IFS - Fractal Image Compression
Information and software for Giovambattista Pulcini's IFS Application Framework. This is a Windows application for compressing images through IFS to achieve "compression ratios of 24:1 in 6 minutes on a 320x200 true-color image".

Iterated Systems Fractal Image Compression Directory
A page from the guys and company that started the whole concept of fractal image compression. They have developed the fractal image format `.FIF' for which they supply a shareware encoder (Fractal Imager), a stand alone decoder and a Netscape plug-in decoder, and a development package for use under Windows. Also under development is an avi video decoder called Cool Fusion, as a plug-in for Netscape.

BibTeX format fractal image compression bibliography
A Bibtex formated bibliography of fractal image compression related publications, recently updated in early 1996 from the University of Cape Town. Their Digital Image Processing page contains more information on image compression, including colour and grey-scale source images.

Fractal Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
Fractal Frequently Asked Questions and Answers page updated by Ermel Stepp covers general FAQ's on fractals with a section on fractal image compression.

Waterloo Fractal Compression Page
A page on fractal compression from the University of Waterloo (Ontario), Montreal (Quebec), and Verona (Italy) Fractal Research Initiative. This site contains most software and internet accessible papers on fractal image coding. Also available is the Waterloo BragZone and Fractals Repository with numerous images and results for different compression algorithms.

Fractal Papers at Freiburg
A large collection of papers at Freiburg University maintained by Dietmar Saupe and Raouf Hamzaoui.
