  This piece was composed using ordinary hardware (samplers and synths) and a MIDI sequencer. Thanks to Peter McIlwain and Alistair Riddell for their comments on various aspects of the piece... however none of the blame for the track resides with them! The samples used were recorded on a trip to the Adelaide Hills and the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia, oh, and one was made on a train trip into Melbourne.

  Drum Major is a messy pattern hacked together using Boolean Networks in a multi-track Boolean MIDI sequencer I have written called ILLogicaL. The track is not on-line because it is good, it is here to demonstrate the software. The numbers in the title refer to the number of nodes in the five sequencer loops used to construct the piece. The inter-node delays which determine the amount of time which elapses between notes in a loop were set at various multiples of 10 between 10 and 100 milli-seconds. The tool is described in a paper which was presented at the Australasian Computer Music Conference 2000.

  Yes, this one's named after Eno's well-known work of a similar title. This piece was also constructed with the Boolean network sequencer, ILLogicaL. It consists of 3 loops of 6,7 & 8 nodes respectively. The inter-node delays were set at 1000, 750 and 1000 milli-seconds which obviously makes this piece move more slowly than the Drum Major.
