- 19 May 2000

      - The sample exam is now available. The
last 2 lectures of the course are reserved for revision so make sure you've
attempted the sample exam before then.

- 17 May 2000

      - A reminder that you need to attend your assigned tutorial class on Monday
22nd May, where you will present your practial
exercises to your tutor. It is a hurdle requirement that you pass
your prac exercises in order to pass the subject.

- 3 May 2000

      - You can now get your marks for Assignment 1.
Please consult with your tutor for additional feedback. Please read the
specifications for Assignment 2 carefully in the light of your assessment
        and feedback from assignment 1.

- 27 April 2000

      - Link to Hobbes' Internet Timeline added to the links
        section.

- Please note the FIT5900 exam is 3 hours long and will count for 70%
of your assessment. The assignment work counts for 30% and is a hurdle
requirement. Satisfactory completion of the practical exercises is a hurdle
        requirement only.

- 18 April 2000

- 12 April 2000

- 4 April 2000

      - Some group lab times have changed to accomodate students with clashes
during the 6-7pm time slot. Please check the lab
times page to confirm your group's allocated lab time and room.

- 28 Mar 2000

      - Note: You can convert you group members' names into email
        addresses.

- Students must check their Monash University student email (eg.
        afor7@student.monash.edu.au)
since this is how group members will be contacting each other.

- In all cases the officially allocated assignment groups remain effective.
Students who, due to their group members leaving the subject, are left
in a group of only one member, may notify the lecturers to be assigned
a new official group. No changes to groups other than this will be permitted.

- 22 Mar 2000

      - Group registration has now closed. If you haven't registered
your group, you will be assigned a group at random. Please do not email
requests to be assigned groups. Random allocation of groups will be done
once the enrolled class list is finalised (in a day or so).

- You can check your group allocation here.

  - 21 Mar 2000

    - Clarification of what is meant by a 'hurdle requirement' for the purposes
      of FIT5900:

 In
the case of unsatisfactory performance in the examination, assignment work
or practical exercises, the student's final grade will be the lowest
of either (i) the weighted sum of the two formally assessed components or
(ii) a total mark of 44%.

- Groups may still register
      online.

- 17 Mar 2000

      - To register your assignment group you will need:

          - The student ID's of your four group members
- The user name of one host group member (details on the assignments
            page)
- The domain name of the host member's website

- Groups may now register
        online.

- 15 Mar 2000

      - Please do NOT submit student assignment groups by email. An online
fill-out form will be provided for this shortly (apologies for the delay
        - it is due to students changing their enrolment for FIT5900). The extended
deadline for group registration is Tuesday, 21st March 2000.

- Assignment groups must have exactly four members.

- 14 Mar 2000

  - 9 Mar 2000

- 7 Mar 2000

      - Please note, tutorial exercises will be assessed in tutorial sessions
during the week starting 22nd May 2000. They will not be
        assessed each week.

- It is hoped that an additional supervised lab session will be opened
        on Tuesdays.

- 6 Mar 2000

      - Lecture theatre has been moved to room B2.18 (which has a better video
        projector than K3.21)

- 1 Mar 2000

- 25 Feb 2000

      - MIMS & SIMS students please note: all students enrolled in
this subject must have an existing tertiary qualification in computer
programming. Many students have been mistakenly enrolled in the subject
without the required pre-requisite. These students must seek assistance
from their course advisers immediately to discontinue this subject.
